INTRODUCTION TO NATURE JOURNALING
Register with Ottawa County Parks

Many of us seek ways to better connect with nature. We want to learn its patterns and secrets, help protect its inhabitants, and gain an understanding of our place within it. Nature journaling helps us do this! Using words and pictures, we can record our observations, perceptions, and questions about the world around us. You don’t need to know anything about nature, drawing, or writing to begin and anyone can do it. You need only a willingness to ask questions, be playful, cultivate curiosity, and explore. In this course, you’ll learn how to begin a nature journal, a few drawing basics, and some simple tricks to help you be successful. Then, join us on Wonder Walks throughout the summer to practice your nature journaling skills.

Register with Ottawa County Parks

Experience the autumn season in a new way through nature journaling! Practice your skills as we slowly meander the trails and pause to sit, draw, write, ask questions, and record our observations. Learn new drawing and writing techniques specific to the walk theme while building community and connection. The Nature Journal Club Walks compliment Introduction to Nature Journaling and while taking the class prior to these walks is not required, it is recommended.
